The Paris Motor Show has opened its doors with the media preview days. Production car debuts include the Nissan Qashqai, Audi R8, Volvo C30, new Mini, and Citroen C4 Picasso. It's been a busy weekend for McLaren: not only did Lewis win the 2012 US grand prix, but the car-making division confirmed it would build the most powerful MP4-12C yet – the new 12C GT Can-Am Edition. It's the track-focused 12C racer and Woking has sanctioned a limited run 'of no more than 30 examples.'

Infiniti has revealed a new, cheaper, version of the hybrid M35h – the Infiniti M35h GT – which starts at £41,101. We love the idea of modern hybrid technology providing a useful power boost for more performance and better economy, but we don’t like the premium most car makers charge for their hybrid technology. But Infiniti is different, and their hybrid M – the world’s fastest hybrid production car – comes at a very small premium over the equivalent diesel offering, and now it has an even cheaper entry point.
